Activity Leader- Community--First Shift

AT THIS TIME, THIS POSITION IS ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT ADD EMPLOYEES.

Add is looking for a Center-Based Community Activity Leader. This position leads the day-to-day activities of the AddVenture program in the Add building and in the community.

The Activity Leader oversees the attendance of each individual each day, ensures that all paperwork for each collective activity is completely properly, participates in the activity, and ensures the health and safety of those attending activities. The hours of this position are M-F 8:15a-4:30p.

Duties:
  • Verify that the participants scheduled are present and accounted for at all times.
  • Ensure active involvement in the activity by the participants.
  • Complete the daily and monthly documentation
  • Work with the Collective Professionals as needed to accomplish the desired outcomes of the activity.
  • Be a role model by participating in the activity and displaying socially appropriate behavior at all times.
  • Promptly attend to the health and safety needs of the participants in their activity.
  • Provide personal care as needed.
  • Communicate with the Program Manager about the success of the activities they lead.
  • Provide transportation between participants' homes, Add Central, and activity sites using agency vans.
  • Hours are 8:15am -4:30pm
  • Qualifications:
  • Current employee of Add
  • A sincere desire to work with persons who have developmental disabilities
  • High school diploma or equivalency; experience preferred 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both in verbal and written format
  • Strong decision making abilities in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people
  • Ability to operate and transport participants using agency vans and/or wheelchair vans) 
  • Valid driver's license with 5 or fewer points and current auto insurance required.
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pound required.
